Tottenham Hotspur striker Heung-min Son has started his mandatory three-week military training.

The forward was initially exempted from attending the training after he led the country to a gold win during the Asian games in 2018.

First photos of the forward in full military gear ready to begin his service emerged online on Monday.

His management team recently said they will not make public the player's training as one way of protecting the public.

"After the news broke out that Son is having training, there were many fans and media contacts who want to see Son joining the training center, on-site. Therefore we publish this to relay the correct information on it," read part of the statement.

"Recently, due to the COVID-19 situation, we need to restrain ourselves from a large gathering. To cooperate with the government's policy for COVID-19, Son has decided to join the training 'not open to the public', without giving any information in advance,"

Adding: "We made the decision to protect fans and the media's safety, we ask your kind understanding,"

The 27-year-old took advantage of the current suspension of all Premier League matches due to the coronavirus pandemic to undertake the training.
