Mateo Kovačić has already won three Champions League titles and represented three of Europe's most elite clubs, and he's just turned 26.
🥜 Kovačić in a nutshell
Kovačić is incredibly versatile. During his time at Inter Milan, he would often be deployed as a number 10 but drop deeper to make the play and dictate the tempo in the same game. His technical prowess has made him an accomplished deep-lying playmaker, whose trademark is to drop in and collect the ball off a teammate near the halfway line and then embark on slalom runs. This approach gets the most out of his excellent dribbling skills and pass-and-move capabilities.
Now at Chelsea, he's become a vital cog in Frank Lampard's young team. At 26 he's already got vital experience at the top level and his performances for the Blues this season make him many Chelsea fans' player of the season in 2019-20 thus far. Although Chelsea took a 3-0 beating by Bayern Munich at Stamford Bridge, Kovačić didn't look out of his depth.
