Ghana FA finally admits owing Kwesi Appiah $185,000 in unpaid wages

Ghana FA president Kurt Okraku has admitted that the federation owes former national team head coach Kwesi Appiah $185,000 in unpaid wages.

Okraku revealed this in an interview with a Ghanaian radio station regretting that they had delayed settling the dues.

He, however, added that they are working Kwesi Appiah on a payment plan.

“We have initiated the payment processes, everyone knows, including Kwési Appiah," he said.

He also said that the delay was because the government, which was in charge of paying his salary, had not remitted his arrears.

"It is the Ministry of Youth and Sports which is responsible for paying the salaries of all our national team coaches and they do it via GNPC sponsorship, so it's a bit like a triangle. So there are processes that have to be followed, sometimes it takes time,” he explained.

Kwesi Appiah was sacked in December alongside the entire technical bench of the national senior team as well as other national youth and women teams.
