Solskjaer hopeful Manchester United can extend Ighalo's loan spell

Well, it is not clear if Manchester United will make Odion Ighalo's loan deal permanent at Old Trafford or they will allow him to head back to his parent club Shanghai Shenhua.

Reports have indicated that Shenhua wants Ighalo to head back to China with other suggestions that United want to make the deal permanent. The Nigerian signed for the Red Devils during the January transfer window with the Premier League club for a six-month loan having an option of making the deal permanent.

United is yet to make an offer to Shenhua for Ighalo but head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful the club can extend his loan spell so he can 'finish off what he started.'  Shenhua will only agree to a permanent deal or an extension to his loan that incorporates an obligation to buy. Ighalo would be likely to cost upwards of £20m.

"The loan deal went until the end of May now, so obviously he's supposed to be going back," he told MUTV.

"We're in dialogue. They've been great towards us, his club, and allowed him to play for his dream club. It's been a dream for him and hopefully, he can finish off what he started, hopefully with a trophy for us. At the moment, nothing has been agreed. Their league is going to get started soon so we're just waiting to see."

The 30-year-old's current loan spell is due to expire on Sunday, and United remain in talks to extend his stay at Old Trafford.
