Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has picked former Arsenal and Chelsea defender Ashley Cole as his footballing hero.
Cole made a name for himself at Arsenal under Arsene Wenger, before moving across town to rivals Chelsea in 2006.
He won numerous titles during his playing days, including Premier League titles and the Champions League.
He also won 107 caps with the England national team and is considered by many as the best left-back the Premier League ever had.
Shaw, who plays in a similar role at Man United, labels the man re replaced in the England squad as 'one of the best' left-backs of all times.
“Obviously I would have to go towards a left-back and one I watched a lot,” Shaw responded to the question who he idolized as a child.
“For me, he was probably one of the best left-backs ever in the game: Ashley Cole. Like I said, I watched him a lot and I wanted to become a player like him.
“I was lucky enough to go to an England camp with him and it was amazing to be around someone I idolized so much and I watched a lot of him and he was the player I wanted to be like when I grew up.”
Shaw could have directly replaced Shaw at Stamford Bridge when he moved from Southampton six years ago, but a deal never materialized as the Manchester club swooped for him.
