Bundesliga: RB Leipzig stick four past FC Koln to move to third

RB Leipzig have moved to third on the Bundesliga standings after a come-from-behind 4-2 victory away to FC Koln on Monday night.

Jhon Cordoba gave Koln the perfect start with a cool finish on the seventh minute, his 14th strike of the current campaign, but the visitors equalized on the 20th minute through Patrik Schick.

Julian Nagelsmann's men took control of the match from that minute onwards, and it was no surprise that they doubled their lead on the 38th minute through Christopher Nkunku.

They led 2-1 going into the break, before extending their lead further with a third five minutes after the break.

Timo Werner, who's chasing the Golden Boot race, made a great solo run and pulled the trigger from inside the box, beating Timo Horn with a perfect strike into the bottom right corner for a 1:3 lead.

Leipzig endured a nervy moment though as Anthony Modeste halved the deficit with Koln's second on the 55th minute, but it only lasted two minutes as the visitors reclaimed their two-goal lead with a fourth through Dani Olmo.

It was a fulfilling win for the visitors, who have struggled in recent league matches, which has seen them drop further in the battle for the Bundesliga title.

The win moved Leipzig to third on 58 points, two off second-placed Borussia Dortmund.
