Riyad Mahrez admits he feared he would flop at Man City

Manchester City forward Riyad Mahrez has admitted that he feared he would have been a flop at the club after making a move form Leicester City.

Mahrez became City's record signing when he joined them from Leicester in 2018 City on a £60m deal and according to the Algerian, his form at the start to his City career was not good enough.

"At City, the team is built to win every game. We try to win everything we're playing for. Last year, when I arrived, the manager trusted me and believed in me, but I didn't make the difference as quick as they thought I would.

"At a club like City, they don't have time to wait because we are 20 players, top players. I was on the bench and the other players were performing, so it was difficult for me to come back.

"Then more to the end of the season I came back, I played good and I started this season differently. Now when he played me I was performing, so the confidence is here," the player is quoted by the Daily Star.

Mahrez helped the Foxes win the title in stunning fashion in 2016, but was behind the pecking order at City at his arrival with Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling being ahead of him in the pecking order.

The player, however, has a had a good outing this season with City where he has made 37 appearances before the coronavirus break.
