Thiago Alcantara is set to leave Bayern Munich this summer according to the club's CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
Alcantara has been with Munich for the last seven years and has played a key role in the club's continued domination in the Bundesliga. The Spaniard has been linked with a move to Liverpool but Rummenigge has denied reports that the Premier League side has been in contact over a potential deal.
The club's CEO has revealed Munich have done all they can to persuade the ex-Barcelona ace to commit his future but believes the player is seeking a fresh challenge.
"He’s a decent guy, on and off the pitch," Rummenigge told Bild.
"We negotiated seriously with him and fulfilled all his wishes. But it seems that he wants to do something new towards the end of his career."
"We definitely didn’t have any contact to Liverpool at all. If he wants to do that, we have to deal with it. We don’t want to lose any player next year for free. I can say it that clearly."
