Villarreal new manager Unai Emery wants to reunite with Arsenal midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi this summer.
The Spaniard has already been in contact with the Gunners’ midfielder about a move to La Liga according to Foot Mercato with the player said to be seriously considering the option.
Guendouzi has found himself out of favour at the Emirates in recent months after an incident at the end of the defeat to Brighton on June 20th.
The player is said to have had discipline issues after refusing to apologize for the incident against Brighton and Mikel Arteta is willing to offload him even on a loan deal.
The Frenchman has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona who was in for a swap deal with Ivan Rakitić and Arturo Vidal but reports indicate that the deal was rejected by the Gunners.
Emery brought Guendouzi to join Arsenal two years ago and wants to have him at his club as he believes the Frenchman can help steady his ship in his debut season at the club.
The fact that Villarreal will be participating in the Europa League and the urge of being a regular in the team is said to be appealing to Guendouzi who wants to be part of the French national team ahead of the 2021 Euros.
