Argentine superstar Lionel Messi is expected to return to Barcelona training on Monday.
Reports from Marca says that the club captain will train under his new coach Ronald Koeman for the first time on Monday, once he has passed a coronavirus test.
Messi was expected to turn to train on Saturday after announcing that he will stay with the club following his saga that had rocked the club in the past week but he didn’t turn up.
The Argentine had announced his decision to leave the club in the summer but an intervention by his dad-who doubles up as his agent-and the club hierarchy reached an agreement to have the player for another season at the club despite stating that he didn’t support the appointment of manager Koeman.
Despite his absence, Barcelona welcomed back Brazilian midfielder Philippe Coutinho in the pre-season preparations with the rest of the international set to return after the international break.
The Laliga giants will play their first friendly game next Saturday, September 12, against Nastic de Tarragona at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
