Villarreal join Leeds United in mission to sign Spurs defender Juan Foyth

Villarreal are reportedly targeting Tottenham Hotspur defender Juan Foyth ahead of the new season according to several reports.

Foyth is poised for an exit this summer following his lack of game time and even more unlikely he will play again under Jose Mourinho.

Leeds United have also been credited with an interest in the Argentine following Ben White's permanent move to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Villarreal boss Unai Emery (formerly Arsenal manager) has reportedly been tracking Foyth's movements since his spell with Estudiantes in Argentina.

The 22-year-old previously downplayed rumours linking him with a move back to Argentina, insisting that he will fight for his career in Europe and grow as a player.

“I don’t think about going back to Argentina,” he said via AS and Sport Witness.

“Right now it’s best to stay in Europe. It’s what I want and what the club will surely look for, either with a sale or a loan.

“For my future and because the dream of every player is to be in Europe, the best thing is to stay here and seek continuity.”
