Italian giants AS Roma are preparing a new bid for Manchester United defender Chris Smalling.
Smalling spent his last season at Roma on loan and after impressing in the Serie A, the club is keen on having him on a permanent basis even though their earlier bid for the Englishman was rejected by United who wants more for their player.
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano now claims that Roma is getting ready to bid once more with the defender being a surplus to requirement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United has seven central defenders in the team and is looking to offload some of them with the likes of Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo all said to be on their way of the club should United find buyers.
Smalling is the only defender who has been linked with a move away from the club with Inter Milan said to be the other club interested in his services; the player yet to feature for United despite returning to the club earlier last season.
Roma are preparing a new bid to be submitted on next few days to sign Chris Smalling. Talks still on with Manchester United. Solskjaer via @utdreport: "At the moment, we've not had any bids up to the level that we want. So that's the situation". 🛑 @SkySport #MUFC— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) September 22, 2020
