Manchester United started the 2020/21 Champions League season on a good note after beating Paris Saint-Germain 2-1 on Tuesday evening.
Eighteen months ago, United registered a famous 3-1 victory on their last visit to the Parc des Princes and the Red Devils have once again pulled another surprise. Bruno Fernandes gave United the lead from the spot before PSG drew level thanks to Anthony Martial's own goal. However, the man who was a hero in their previous meeting rose to the occasion and netted the important goal in the 87th minute.
Penalty
United was awarded a penalty in the 20th minute after Diallo fouled Anthony Martial in the danger zone. Bruno Fernandes stepped up to take it but his effort was saved by Navas who encroached before the kick was taken. There was a quick VAR check and Fernandes had to retake.
The Red Devils midfielder made no mistake as he handed United the lead, shooting in the same position as Navas went the wrong way.
Martial own goal
In the second half, PSG was pressing high and got a corner. It was beautifully delivered and Anthony Martial put the ball into his own net. Neymar whips a superb ball into the near post but Martial looked to have it covered. However, he closed his eyes as he headed the ball and it thumps off his cranium past De Gea.
Rashford goal
United's good display finally paid off in the 87th minute and it was a superb strike from Rashford, a low and hard effort from the edge of the box that crept past Navas and into the bottom corner.
