Bayern Munich opened their Champions League title defence with a comfortable 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.
A Kingsley Coman brace and a goal apiece from Leon Goretzka and Corentin Tolisso were enough to do the damage and send a warning to the rest of Europe.
The Germans were comfortable from the first whistle and came close to opening the scores on the quarter-hour mark after a corner ball fell to Niklas Sule who crashed his effort against the right post.
They came back against on the 18th minute, this time Tolisso forcing a world-class save from Jan Oblak after finding space inside the box.
Atletico too got a chance in the 23rd minute after Yannick Carrasco latched onto a pullback in the box right in front of goal, but his shot low shot towards the middle of the goal was weak and Manuel Neuer made an easy save.
The scores however changed on the 28th minute as Coman met a perfect cross from Joshua Kimmich deep inside the box and controlled it with a nice first touch before producing an accurate strike inside the right post.

They then doubled their lead with four minutes of the opening half left in a dominant half.
Having scored the opener, Coman turned provider, finding Leon Goretzka with a fine pass, and he found the net via a deflection past a helpless Jan Oblak.
Atletico thought they had pulled one back two minutes after the restart thanks to Joao Felix's fine finish, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review.
It did not take long for the hosts to add a third, this time coming from Tolisso, who met a rebound from outside the box, firing a brilliant shot into the top right corner for a 3-0 lead.
It was 4-0 to the champions with20 minutes to go, and it was Coman to complete his brace.
The youngster made a great solo run and pulled the trigger from inside the box, beating Oblak with a shot into the left side of the goal.
There were no more goals on the night as the Bavarians took a commanding lead of their group in spectacular fashion.
