Real Madrid injury news: Federico Valverde set for weeks on the sidelines

Real Madrid's Federico Valverde has suffered a broken leg and will be out for a few weeks, the club has confirmed.

The midfielder was in action on Sunday as Madrid lost 4-1 away to Valencia, but was forced off in the74th minute, with Toni Kroos taking his place.

“Following tests carried out on our player, Federico Valverde, by Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a fracture in the posterior tibial bone in his right leg. His recovery will continue to be assessed,” read a statement on the club's website.

The Uruguayan is now expected to be out for up to four weeks, which should be bad news for coach Zinedine Zidane.

The news comes a day after both Eden Hazard and Casemeiro tested positive for Coronavirus, even though they are expected to be back after the international break.

The Los Blancos will face Villareal in their next LaLiga assignment, before a trip away to Inter Milan in the Champions League
