Gerard Pique opts against undergoing surgery

FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has opted against undergoing surgery after his injury last weekend against Atletico Madrid.

The player is expected to be out for at least three months and while many had hoped that he was to undergo surgery, Pique wanted another opinion on the injury named reports have emerged that he will not go the process.

According to a report published by Cat Radio, Pique has now opted for conservative treatment after it was reported that he had two injuries: a sprain that would ideally need 3 months to recover, and a ligament injury, which required further examination.

Surgery could have seen him out for nearly half a year, but make a full recovery, or conservative treatment, where he would be sidelined for an upwards of three months.

In his absence, Barcelona will now be forced to put their trust in young players like Oscar Mingueza and Ronald Araujo at least until the January transfer window where they are expected to bid again for Manchester City defender Eric Garcia.
