The Argentine starred for the Naples club in the late 1980s and early 1990s, leading them to numerous titles including the Serie A.
In a statement, the club said;
“I think it is right to name the San Paolo after your name, to still have you with us as a witness to the excellent path that this team has taken,” De Laurentiis said.
“Yours were indelible years in the memory of the Neapolitans, a symbol of a coveted redemption and the desired resurrection.”
Maradona is regarded by many as the best ever to play the beautiful game, and will always be remembered at Napoli, where he scored 115 goals in 259 appearances.
