Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has said Maduka Okoye only has a great opportunity to claim Nigeria’s gloves.
While Okoye stood in for an unavailable Daniel Akpeyi in recent outings, things and favour tends to turn very quickly in football, such as the consequences of a 4-4 draw with Sierra Leone.
“All the goalkeepers in the team have been first choice for some time and now it’s Okoye’s turn,” Rohr told owngoalnigeria.com.
“He has to work really hard to hang on to the position because the others are eager to be there. So it is not his own yet.
“He has done well with his club and that’s what you need to be in our team,” concluded the German.
Coming up next for the Super Eagles, who lead the AFCON 2021 Qualifiers Group L with a single point, is a trip to Benin in March 2021.
