Early Man United news ahead of Fulham clash

Manchester United will be back in action on Wednesday night when they travel to Craven Cottage to take on London side Fulham.

Ole Gunnar's side dropped points at Anfield on Sunday night in a drab 0-0 draw and will be keen to bounce back to winning ways against Scott Parker's improving side, who lost 1-0 at home to Chelsea on Saturday.

The Norwegian is expected to rotate his side as has become a norm in the last few weeks, especially with the match against Liverpool, this time in the FA Cup set for the weekend.

Edinson Cavani, Nemanja Matic, and Eric Bailly were in the side that picked a 1-0 win against Burnley in the Premier League prior to the Liverpool match but dropped to the bench at Anfield.

They might be recalled with Solskjaer likely set to keep his squad fresh ahead of the match against Jurgen Klopp's side.

With Solskajer having an almost fully-fit squad to pick from, Alex Telles, Donny van de Beek, and Mason Greenwood, whose role has diminished over the last few weeks, offer further options in key areas.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Bruno Fernandes all one booking away from a ban and could miss next week's match against Sheffield if any of them is cautioned against Fulham.

After the match at Anfield, Solskjaer sought to explain his decision to withdraw Fernandes, insisting it had nothing to do with his physical condition.

“It was a tactical decision,” said Ole. “Bruno has been running his socks off for us in every single game since he came here. Running, more or less, every game. Towards the end, I felt Paul's physical presence in there might be a chance for us.

“And Mason [Greenwood], if he gets a chance, he can score in the blink of a second. So it was a throw of the dice to get Mason on, even though he had to defend against Robertson.”
