Arsenal came from a goal down to register a 3-1 victory over Southampton in a Premier League game staged at St Mary's on Tuesday evening.
Southampton took an early lead through Stuart Armstrong but Nicholas Pepe hit back before goals from Bukayo Saka and Lacazette sealed the victory for Arsenal.
The visitors should have scored early as Bednarek gave the ball away so sloppily for Xhaka in midfield, he slotted Lacazette through on goal. McCarthy comes out, makes himself big, and blocks the Frenchman's low effort! What a start that would have been for the Gunners.
Arsenal went behind a couple of minutes after they missed out on the chance of taking the lead through Lacazette. Ward-Prowse delivered a corner that was met by on-running Armstrong and his first-time effort flew past Bernd Leno and into the top corner.
In the eighth minute, Arsenal were level. Xhaka had the ball 40 yards from goal before putting Pepe through on goal in the box, he shrugged off Valery and stuck one bottom right corner from 12 yards.
In the 39th minute, Arsenal turned the game around. The Gunners won the first and second balls from a goal kick and Lacazette delivered a through ball for Saka to run onto. He still got plenty to do but as McCarthy darted off his line, the youngster showed quick feet to round him and tuck into the net.
The Gunners had their third and it was Lacazette putting the ball at the back of the net. Cedric played a monster of a diagonal from left to right to Saka. Saka collected it on the right of the box, first-time across the face of goal, and Lacazette was in the right position to extend the lead.
The result now means the north London side has taken 16 points from the last 18 available and move eighth on the league standings with 30 points.
