Manchester City went top of the Premier League after a convincing 5-0 win over West Brom on Tuesday night.
The Pep Guardiola side who have been brushing teams of late knew that any win would see them dislodge neighbors and rivals Manchester United from the top of the log and they wasted no time in reminding their hosts of their intentions with an opener in the sixth minute from Iklay Gundogan.
Joao Cancello was to double their lead in the 20th minute with the goal given after a thorough check from the VAR. Even before West Brom could settle, Gundogan added a third and his second of the evening ten minutes later with a sublime effort before Riyad Mahrez ensured they had a comfortable 4-0 lead at the brink half time.
Mahrez was to turn provider for City's fifth goal that came on the 57th minute. The Algerian rounded off the opposition keeper before laying the ball to Raheem Sterling who made no mistake.
The win sees City rise on top of the pile with 41 points after 19 rounds of games; the same games as United who face Sheffield United later on Wednesday.
