Chelsea FC moved to fourth on the log following a 2-0 victory against Newcastle United on Monday evening in a Premier League match staged at Stamford Bridge.
Olivier Giroud tapped into an empty net to put them 1-0 upon the half-hour before Timo Werner added the second.
Tammy Abraham was brought down inside the box by Lascelles. The referee's decision was not to award a penalty as it showed Newcastle's defender clearly got the ball. The forward looked in a bit of pain after the challenge, he got some treatment and could not continue as he was replaced by Olivier Giroud.
The substitute gave Chelsea the lead and it was Werner who worked well as he burst past Krafth before firing a low cross into the penalty area. Darlow did get a touch, but the ball rebounds to Giroud, who rolled the ball home.
The Blues got their second through Timo Werner and it was a scrappy one from the hosts. An outswinging corner was flicked on at the near post and the ball hits Lascelles before falling kindly for Werner, who tapped home at the far post.
There was a VAR check for handball against Giroud, but the check was quickly complete and the goal stood.
Tuchel has taken Chelsea from ninth to fourth for the first time in two months with Liverpool slipping to sixth. It's Chelsea's best run of league form since Frank Lampard took charge some 15 months ago.
