Olympique Marseille defender Duje Caleta Car has confirmed that Liverpool was interested in acquiring his services in the just concluded window.
The Reds were in the market for central defenders to fill the void left by Joe Gomes and Virgil van Dijk and settled for the duo of Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak.
But speaking with on Tuesday ahead of Marseille’s clash with Nice Car confirmed that he received a proposal to join Premier League champions after strongly being linked with them.
“Today, there is the Champions’ League, and I am going to watch the two games, I received an offer from Liverpool. It was an honor for me to know that such a club wanted me. We decided with the club that I was going to stay. Marseille is also a great club and I still have a lot of improving to do here,” he said.
Liverpool has struggled in their title defence with a makeshift line up in their rearguard; the team currently finding themselves in position 6th with 40 points.
