Serie A: Inter win Milan derby to move four points clear

Inter Milan opened a four-point gap at the top of the Serie A after thumping rivals AC Milan 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Lautaro Martinez scored a wonderful double, with his strike partner Romelu Lukaku scoring the other as he moved top of the league's scoring charts.

The visitors start the match on a high, and it took them only four minutes to find the opener, with Martinez brilliantly heading in a Lukaku cross.

AC tried almost drew level in the 15th minute as Zlatan Ibrahimovic picked up a rebound inside the penalty area and released a good shot to the middle of the goal, but Samir Handanovic showed how quick his reflexes are and dived superbly to stop his effort.

A few minutes later action was on the other end as Lukaku got on the end of a pass on the edge of the area, but he dragged his shot just wide of the right post.

Theo Hernandez, Martinez, and Ibrahimovic all had half chances to score in the opening half, but none could find the net as Inter led 1-0 going into the break.

After knocking on AC Milan's goal on a number of occasions, Inter doubled their lead just before the hour mark as Martinez scored his second of the night following a good team move.

Lukaku then almost got a third in the 63rd minute, but Gianluigi Donnarumma pulled off a great save to deny the former Man United after he made some space inside the box.

He was not to be denied though in the 66th minute as he found the back of the net, becoming the first player since Romeo Benetti in 1973 to score in four consecutive Serie A Milan derbies.

There were no more goals as Antonio Conte's side picked yet another Milan Derby win, moving clear at the top in the process.
