Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola added final confirmation that Eric Garcia is going to Nou Camp.
As reported here on Futaa several months ago, the extraordinary 20-year-old shocked his club and the global football community by turning down a new Man City deal, in favour of moving to Barcelona at the end of this season on a free deal.
Additionally, Garcia has since been sidelined until his departure in June.
"Eric Garcia is like a son. He was a guy last season that after lockdown was our best central defender. He never made a mistake and played in the quarter-final of the Champions League,” Guardiola said via Goal.
"He's going to play in Barcelona and that is not an average player - he is a top player. He was not selected in the last two games and it broke my heart.
"That is why it is difficult for all the managers when you have a squad. You cannot imagine what it means,” Pep concluded.
Garcia will be returning to the Catalan giants after leaving at U16 level to join Man City’s U18s in 2017.
