Manchester United is set to reward manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a new deal worth £9m a year.
The Norwegian boss who replaced Jose Mourinho in December 2018, is set to enter the final 12 months of his three-year contract later this month and despite stating last week that he wasn’t concerned about new talks, The Daily Mirror reveals that new negotiations are imminent.
Despite a huge gap between them and City, Solskjaer has revitalized United where they currently sit second on the log and are in the run for the FA Cup and the Europa League trophies.
They sit 17 points behind Manchester City in the Premier League with two games in hand but look likely to improve on their third-place finish last season.
Solskajer is currently on £7m salary per year but the club feels he should be on more following some good performances on the pitch with the reports indicating that the negotiations should commence soon; the move coming just days after United made a number of announcements in their management.
John Murtough has been confirmed as the club's new football director, while former midfielder Darren Fletcher has sealed a technical director post.
