Guardiola sets new milestone as Man City win record-equaling League Cup

Manchester City equaled Liverpool's record for most wins in the Carabao Cup's history following their win over Tottenham on Sunday evening.

Aymeric Laporte's header from a Kevin de Bruyne free-kick five minutes from time was enough to settle an entertaining game, which City controlled from start to finish.

The win saw City retain the crown for the fourth successive season, and is their sixth in the last eight seasons.

Liverpool were all alone at the top of the list for most Carabao Cup titles won with eight, and have now been joined by Pep Guardiola's side.

The Spaniard has also become the first manager in history to win four in a row (2018-2021).

Pep joins Brian Clough, Alex Ferguson, and Jose Mourinho with four – no manager has won more.

Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho have also become the most decorated players in the competition's history with six medals, one ahead of Ian Rush and David Silva.
