FC Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman has given a hint that captain Lionel Messi might leave the club in the summer.
Messi has his contract ending at te end of the season with reports rife that Barca are set to hold talks with the Argentine with Koeman admitting that the player could leave after their defeat to Celta Vigo on Sunday night.
“We hope he will not leave because he is still the best player in the world and he has shown today. It is impossible to play without him. He has already scored 30 goals this season, which have given the team a lot of points.
“It is a question for Leo to decide. For me and for the team, we hope he stays because if don’t have him, we have doubts about who will score so many goals,” Koeman told Marca.
Messi is set to join the Argentina squad for this summer’s Copa America tournament but Barca wants to solve his future before he joins his national team with reports stating that holding the player at the club remains Barca’s top priority in the summer.
