Arsenal have rekindled their pursuit of Houssem Aouar and expect to complete a deal for his services this summer, with Lyon willing to sell the midfielder for under £20 million.
Lyon set a £55 million price tag on Aouar a year ago, preventing Arsenal from agreeing to a deal for the 22-year-old, who is largely considered as one of the best emerging prospects in the game.
However, the Ligue 1 club has been forced to reduce their asking price for Aouar after failing to qualify for the Champions League last season with a poor fourth-place result.
Arsenal are ready to take advantage of the scenario, according to The Sun, and will offer Aouar a £100,000-per-week contract to entice him to the Emirates ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Mikel Arteta is looking to bolster his midfield after a disappointing domestic and European campaign, and Martin Odegaard had been the Spaniard's first choice after an outstanding loan term.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, is keen to keep Odegaard for the coming season, forcing Arsenal to look for alternatives such as Anderlecht's Lokonga.
Granit Xhaka, Matteo Guendouzi, and Lucas Torreira are all expected to leave in the coming weeks, while Joe Willock might also be on his way out as Newcastle look to sign the Arsenal academy product on a permanent basis.
Arsenal is presently ahead of Liverpool in the hunt to sign Aouar, according to the report.
