Olympics: Dani Ceballos suffers nasty ankle injury during Spain's opener

Spain midfielder Dani Ceballos suffered a nasty ankle injury during his side's opener in the Olympics against Egypt.

Ceballos was brought off immediately after the start of the second half, following a challenge on Egypt ace Taher Mohamed. Taher stood on Ceballos'  ankle and the Spaniard could not continue with Jon Moncayola taking his place.

Earlier in the game, Spain had suffered another injury blow with Oscar Mingueza forced off in the first half.

Speaking after the game, Span coach Luis de la Fuente said, "They are the greatest concern. Now we are going to see how the injuries develop today. They do not look good."

"We are going to see if I’m wrong and they can be recoverable for the shortest possible dates. They are two injuries that could put them out for a while," he concluded.

Spain will be up against Argentina in their next assignment of Group C before facing Australia.
