KPL side Tusker pulls out of CECAFA Kagame Cup

Kenyan Premier League side Tusker has pulled out of the 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup tournament. 

Tusker are currently at the top of the league standings and with the tight KPL schedule, Robert Matano's men have opted against participating. The tournament is scheduled to start on August 1st to 14thth the same month in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. 

The Brewers were initially pooled in Group B of the tournament alongside Azam and Altabara of South Sudan. This means eight teams are remaining in the competition and the organizers have switched from a three-group competition to a two. 

Defending champions KCCA FC have now been pitted in group B of the Clubs Cup alongside Azam FC a side they beat in the 2019 final, Messager Ngozi FC (Burundi), and KMKM SC (Zanzibar).

Group A has Young Africans (Tanzania), Big Bullets FC (Malawi), Express FC (Uganda), and Atlabara FC (South Sudan).
