Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has lauded his club for signing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.
The 40-year-old played alongside Varane for France between 2013 and 2016 and in an interview with The Athletic, Evra said his countryman reminded him of another Red legend in Rio Ferdinand.
"Varane reminds me of Rio Ferdinand. Great with the ball, great in the air. He's the complete center-back. I remember his first game with the French national team and I was so impressed.
"He was so young yet so good with the ball, so fast and his anticipation was perfect. He's calm with the ball and he can score too. It's a top, top signing for Manchester United," Evra said.
Varane will be joining United for £34m and became Ole Gunnar Solskjaer second signing this summer after the arrival of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
The player is expected in England this week for his medicals and paperwork with United feeling that they have found a perfect partner for captain Harry Maguire.
