Brendan Rodgers rules out Maddison exit amid Arsenal links

Brendan Rodgers, the manager of Leicester City, has made it clear that James Maddison, who has been linked with a move to Arsenal, will not be leaving the club this summer.

Mikel Arteta has reportedly highlighted Maddison as a top priority for the Gunners, who are looking for a replacement for Martin Odegaard in the number 10 position.

Leicester have reportedly placed a £70 million price tag on the 24-year-head, old's but Rodgers has stated that the Foxes will not accept offers for crucial members of the squad.

Speaking to reporters, Rodgers said: "In conversations with the club, we don't have to sell. That's something that's been made clear.

"The players want to stay. It's a really exciting time at the club. There's lots of gossip and speculation around but I'm loving working with the guys here, they love being here, and we certainly have no need to sell. So I would suspect we're looking to keep our best players."

Maddison finished the 2020-21 season with 11 goals and 10 assists in 42 games across all competitions, as well as an FA Cup winner's medal, his first major prize of his career.
