Arsenal are preparing a new bid in the region of £28 million for Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.
It was reported earlier that Sheffield wanted £40 million for the 23-year-old but according to the Sheffield Star, the player's desire to return to the Premier League might force his club to lower their expectations on the deal.
The reports indicate that the North London club are confident that they will get the player with their next bid as they are convinced that the player wants to join them.
It remains to be seen if Ramsdale will be involved for Sheffield in their Wednesday tie against West Bromwich Albion even though manager Slavisa Jokanovic has been clear that there is a strong understanding of the situation between him and his keeper.
Ramsdale has played every minute of their Championship campaign so far despite his uncertain future, keeping a clean sheet at Swansea City in their last outing.
Should the Englishman leave, Dutchman Michael Verrips is Jokanovic’s immediate alternative after he was given a shutout in the club’s League Cup first-round tie with Carlisle United.
