Championship side Queens Park Rangers eliminated Everton 8-7 in post-match penalties in a Carabao Cup fixture after a 2-2 draw in regular time in a match staged on Tuesday night.
Charlie Austin had given the hosts an 18th-minute lead but Lucas Digne drew Everton level on the half-hour mark after getting to an Andros Townsend cross. Austin was to regain the Rangers' lead in the 34th minute for a 2-1 lead at the break but Townsend was to restore parity two minutes into the second half.
With the game having no winner, it headed to the penalties in which Tom Davies missed his spot-kick to eliminate the Premier League side from the competition.
In other games of the day, Manchester City and Liverpool sailed through to the fourth round following wins over Wycombe and Norwich City respectively.
Wycombe had given the Pep Guardiola side a scare when they took Brandon Hanlan in the 22nd minute only for the Premier League giants to run riot late with goals from Kevin de Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez double, Pau Torres, Phil Foden, and Cole Palmer.
Just as Everton, Fulham were eliminated from the showpiece via penalties with Leeds United running 5-6 winners following a scoreless draw in regular time.
