Spanish giants Barcelona have been handed a massive injury blow with forward Memphis Depay set to be on the sidelines with a hamstring strain.
Depay picked up a hamstring injury on Wednesday night during Barcelona's 3-0 loss to Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The former Lyon played their entire match but now is expected to be on the sidelines for a lengthy period.
The 27-year-old is now set to join Jordi Alba on Barcelona's lengthy list after the left-back also picked up a knock against Bayern Munich and is expected to miss the next few weeks.
"Jordi Alba is having trouble with his right hamstring and will be unavailable until he recovers. He was replaced by Oscar Mingueza in the 31st minutes of the 3-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday," a statement from the Catalans read.
"Meanwhile, the Dutch striker has injured the biceps femoris in his left hamstring and is out of action until he recovers. Memphis started the game and played all 90 minutes, but was clearly having fitness issues at the end."
Barca dropped into the Europa League following their elimination from the Champions League as they finished third in group stages.
