Luka Modric has become the latest Real Madrid player to aim a dig at PSG striker Kylian Mbappe after he snubbed a chance to move to the Spanish capital.
Reports were rife that Mbappe had a verbal agreement with Madrid to move to Laliga this summer but the Frenchman made a U-turn by signing a new deal with the Ligue One giant something that the Spanish club hasn't taken lightly.
Modric is out of contract with Madrid next month but unlike Mbappe, the Croatian wants to continue with the European giants and build on ten glorious years but won't be getting ideas from Mbappe.
Luka Modrić: “I’ve not extended my contract with Real Madrid yet… but I won’t do like Mbappé [laughs]. And I hope the club won’t do that to me!”, tells @partidazocope. ⚪️😀 #RealMadrid— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) May 24, 2022
…of course, no problem for Modrić as he’s gonna sign a new deal until 2023 after UCL final. pic.twitter.com/TIMME7d4WY
"I've not extended my contract with Real Madrid yet, but I won't do like Mbappe. And I hope the club won't do that to me. We have a good relationship. I have said many times that I want to finish my career here," the 36-year-old said in an interview with COPE, as per the Daily Mail.
The sentiments come after Karim Benzema, Mbappe's compatriot at the national team, put up a Tupac Instagram post that many felt was related to his France teammate. He has since claimed the picture was nothing to do with the Mbappe situation and did not feel the need to talk about him in a pre-Champions League final interview.
