Orlando Pirates coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has reacted to his team’s draw with Highlands Park to fall five points behind leaders Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership.
Pirates earned a thrilling 2-2 draw at Highlands Park on Saturday evening, while Wits stretched the lead with an away 2-1 win over Free State Stars on the same night.
Asked about his level of concern, the former Uganda coach said there is still plenty of time to make amends.
“No‚ no – we look deeply inside ourselves. We have 14 matches to go‚ 14 finals‚” Micho said.
“Because we played against Highlands like it was a final. And every match we shall play like this‚ and we shall see what football will pay us back.
“The main lesson we learned against Highlands was that we need to close the gates behind and we need to keep being effective up-front. And this is exactly what our target is.
“We will take each match as it comes – 14 matches as cup finals.
“And we will try to play the usual formation until things go. If they don’t go‚ we shall employ total risk until all chances die‚ knowing that we have thrown everything that we have available at trying to win the game,” he concluded.
Pirates face a grueling week starting with a league meeting with Chippa United on Tuesday night, before traveling to Zimbabwe to face FC Platinum in the CAF Champions League on Saturday.
