Solskjaer believes Man United forward can rival Kane

12 Jan 2019, 12:00

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford can reach Harry Kane’s level.

Kane has been a sensational figure at Tottenham Hotspur and even won the Golden Boot award in the 2018 World Cup tournament in Russia, where he skippered England all the way to the semi-finals. Solskjaer believes that the 21-year old can grow into one of the most feared forward in the Premier League.

"He can become a top, top striker. We can talk about Harry Kane and his class, and I'm sure Marcus as well. He's got the potential to get up there. He's got frightening pace, he's now become stronger and can hold the ball up for us. He's a great link player. He's a very exciting player to work with.”

Nice Pochetino

Spurs will welcome Man United on Sunday and Solskjaer praised Mauricio Pochetino saying that he was a nice guy and has proved that he is a top manager in a competitive league.

“I've only met him once myself. He was a very nice man to speak to and we had a nice chat. He's probably a very good man manager, but you've got to ask someone else. From the outside, he looks like that anyway. He's got good players, it's the same with me. It's easier to play an attacking way and your way when you've got good players, and he's got lots of good players,” the interim boss added.

The former Red Devils’ star signed a six-month contract and admitted that he has not talked with Ed Woodward on whether the contract will be extended and made permanent.

“No, we've not had that conversation. You don't plan five or six months ahead and then suddenly after two weeks change that. No, nothing's changed. We just keep working every single day on improving the team here. I work with a fantastic coaching staff, I have to say. We'll put a plan together on how we want to look the next few months.” he concluded.

Man United lost 3-0 in the first leg encounter at Old Trafford.
