Arsenal prepare shock bid for out of favour Chelsea defender

Arsenal are reportedly planning a last-ditch bid to sign Chelsea defender Gary Cahill according to reports.

The North London side have been hit with a string of serious injuries to their fragile back-line losing Hector Bellerin and Rob Holding for the rest of the season while Sokratis Papastathopoulos is expected to be out of action for at least a month after suffering an injury during Friday’s 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.

With Arsenal only able to get players on loan due to financial challenges, Unai Emery has turned his attention to the 33-year-old whose contract with Chelsea expires at the end of the season.

However, Arsenal are not the only side interested in his services, with Crystal Palace and Fulham also said to be monitoring his situation.

Cahill has made just seven appearances for Maurizio Sarri’s men this season playing just 21 minutes of Premier League football.
