Liverpool claimed three vital points in the title race as they dislodged Manchester City from the summit of the log but the Blues have a game in hand. Sadio Mane opened the scoring for the Reds in the 51st minute before Salah doubled their lead two minutes later with a fine strike from outside the 18-yard area after cutting in from the right flank.

In an interview with Sky Sports after the game, Salah was asked to explain his goal celebration, "I am a yoga man! I do yoga and it just came into my mind." Salah had this to say about his goal, "I don't think. I just feel. Normally I shoot with the inside of my foot. But this one I decided, because it was far, to hit it with power. I was lucky the ball hit the net like that."
