Uganda Cubs coach believes there's more to come from his team
Uganda Cubs coach Fabin Kwasi believes his side are down but not out yet despite an opening defeat to Angola in the U17 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Tanzania.
The Junior side lost 1-0 to the Angolans in a game they created chances but couldn’t bury any.
“Congratulations to Angola for the good game,” said Kwasi in a press conference.
“We gave them licence to play. They had one chance and took it. We had several and missed them. That was the difference,” he added.
The goal that we conceded, when they had a corner kick, we switched off and failed to react and they put the ball in the net.
Kwasi who guided Ghana to the FIFA U-17 World Cup a few years ago, however, lauded the boys for the second half performance.
“I was a little bit disappointed but we came back strongly, defended well. We go to the drawing board and correct the mistakes so that we can approach the second match.
"I told them, we are down but not yet out."
Uganda’s next game will be against hosts Tanzania on Wednesday, April 17 and they must pick at least a point to stand a chance of reaching the World Cup in Brazil.
