Match preview 🏆

The 1-0 Black Cats' win in the first-leg wat the Stadium of Light was a poor quality football match, but there's evidence to suggest that Portsmouth can win the second leg here and make the tie interesting from the get-go. Wing-back Lee Brown was missing through an Achilles injury, and his marauding runs down the left-hand side were sorely missed. Jackett highlighted the lack of balance and a paucity of a left-footer in the side, and Brown adds a lot to the team and the front line.

Preceding Portsmouth's defeat in the first leg here, both teams scored in seven out of seven matches and that trend can continue here.

Men to watch & team news 🌟

Pompey's Veteran striker Brett Pitman was absent on Thursday due to a hamstring injury and is a doubt here.  Brandon Haunstrup and Dion Donohue also missed the first fixture due to injuries and it's unlikely either will feature.

Sunderland's big worry is Aidan McGeady. His foot problem flared up during the warm-up on Saturday so he's unlikely to feature, from the start at least. Striker Will Grigg didn't start either and he's certainly not been on fire this season, and that has blunted Sunderland's attacking options. Alim Ozturk is suspended.
