Absa Premiership’s relegated boys Free Stars Stars have confirmed an exodus of staff.

Ea Lla Koto met the National First Division (NFD) last weekend after losing to champions Mamelodi Sundowns in Bethlehem.

With the lower’s league’s monthly grant a big drop from the PSL’s, the club has been forced to relieve their wage bill. Now after less than a week after the relegation, an exodus of virtually every staff member, including coach Nikola Kavazović, except five players has been confirmed.

“We woke up on Monday morning and realised we have lost two-thirds of our income and had to stop feeling sorry for ourselves. So we are restructuring to plan for life in the NFD,” club boss Rantsi Mokoena confirmed to Soccer Laduma.

The publication also revealed through their sources that Nyiko Mobbie, Harris Tchilimbou, Makhehlene Makhaula, Sibusiso Hlubi, and Martin Kizza are the players that have been retained - though the five will surely garner interest from other PSL sides.

“I am in negotiations with several clubs over the services of some of our players and we will make announcements in due course. It’s a situation we have found ourselves in and have to adjust to our current circumstances. We had to do this as soon as possible because we literally have about a month before pre-season and starting afresh in a new league,” Mokoena added.
