Free State Stars have released striker Eleazer Rodgers who forms a part of the list of players whom the club showed the door after being relegated from the Absa Premiership.

Ea Lla Koto despite their relegation troubles managed to score 31 goals in the 2018/19 season, more than six other clubs - including SuperSport United that finished sixth on the log.

However the former Bidvest Wits forward only contributed a total of four goals in 26 league matches player and it was reportedly best to release him from the club as they make their way to the National First Division.

"I have been released from the club, or most of us have been released," Rodgers told KickOff.

"I'm still finalising things before I leave, but ja you could say I'm gone. We got relegated and the club can no longer afford those who are left."

"We never thought we would go down so I never thought of it," he says. "I guess there was always a level of uncertainty to stay or leave. But I'm loyal so if it came to that then it would be fine, but ja it didn't."
