Reyes to be honoured before Champions League final

European football governing body UEFA have announced a minutes's silence will be observed for Jose Antonio Reyes before the Champions League final tonight.

The former Arsenal player died in a fatal car crash in Spain on Saturday

Reyes, who was 35, was part of Arsenal's squad that won the Premier League in 2004 without losing a single match.

UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin said: “UEFA and European football are deeply saddened by the terrible news that José Antonio Reyes has passed away today and I would like to express my sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones for their loss.

“He had a glittering career and won numerous honours wherever he played and I am shocked and saddened that his life has been so tragically cut short.”

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) also confirmed there would be a minute's silence held before all official Spanish league games this weekend.
