Serie A side AS Roma is interested in acquiring the services of Manchester United midfielder Fred on a loan deal.
The move, however, has not quite worked out for the 26-year-old who has struggled to impress in the Premier League and not held down a regular place in the first team.
The Brazil international made 25 appearances in all competitions last season, but just 17 in the Premier League, scoring one goal in the process.
Italian publication Il Romanista report that Roma wants to do a deal to bring Fred in on a two-year loan deal and they have already arranged personal terms with the player.
However, United may not be convinced by the proposed loan move and will want to recoup a significant amount of the £52m they spent on the midfielder just last year.
Fred signed a five-year contract on arrival in Manchester, meaning he is tied up until the summer of 2023.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is planning a significant revamp of his squad during this transfer window and would welcome the added funds available to him if Fred were to be sold.
