REPORTS: Gor Mahia drops six players

Kenyan Premier League giants Gor Mahia has reportedly dropped six players as they gear for the new season.

The team is currently in Rwanda where they are gearing for their second game against Ports of Djibouti on Wednesday after flooring AS Maniema in the CECAFA Kagame Cup.

The team is said to have dropped Ugandan hit man Erisa Ssekisambu with the striker currently in Kampala. Another player who is said to have been dropped is midfielder Cercidy Okeyo whose jersey number has been handed to Kenneth Muguna.

Others said to be leaving the club are defender Pascal Ogweno, Burundian Francis Mustafa, George Odhiambo and goalkeeper Shaban Odhoji.

Of the named players, none made it for the trip to Rwanda where the team is using the Kagame Cup as part of their preseason preps ahead of their CAF Champions League ties and the KPL.

Odhoji’s departure is said to have instigated the signing of Tanzania shot-stopper David Mapigano with Ogweno having found it hard to adapt in the first season with the club after arriving from Kariobangi Sharks last season.

Apart from Mapigano, the team has so far signed winger Dickson Ambundo from Tanzania side Alliance FC, Tobias Otieno, Abdalla Shura, Elvis Ronack, Dennis Oalo and Curtis Wekesa.
