Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has defended teammate Jesse Lingard over the holiday video that landed the England international in trouble.
Lingard was last month filmed inside a luxury suite he was sharing with Rashford, former United player Ro-Shaun Williams and their friend Jamal Branker on holiday in Miami this summer.
The player could be heard swearing on several occasions as he went from room to room before filming Branker simulating having sex on his bed.
When asked about the video, Rashford said: “From what I've seen of it, people have to understand that he was just enjoying his holiday. It was a mistake, but there is not much more I can say about that.”
Rashford early last week signed a new deal with United believed to be in excess of £200,000-a-week, and is now determined to help the club catch up rivals Manchester City and Liverpool.
“For me, that just puts an even bigger challenge to us,” said Rashford. “We never shy from a challenge; we have to move forward as a team.
“It has always been a goal to get us back to where we should be. It wasn't a hard decision. I think we have to take it one game at a time. But for us we can't look too far ahead, we just have to concentrate on ourselves.”
