Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has been impressed by Christian Pulisic's decision to cut short his holiday, and link up with the team for the preseason tour.
The American was on international duty with the national team for the Gold Cup tournament and was to take a break before joining his new teammates.
He has however decided to cut short his holiday and join the team, which is currently in Dublin, Ireland for their preseason tour.
Speaking on Sunday evening, Lampard revealed that the former Borussia Dortmund winger will join the team on Tuesday, and take part in the remainder of the tour.
"Christian joins us on Tuesday, he’s had a short break, but he wanted to get back with us quickly, which I certainly appreciate. I appreciate that [coming to pre-season early after the Gold Cup], it’s how I would have been," Lampard told Goal.
"It’s a big move for him to a huge club. He’s a top young player. He’s only going to go one way in terms of his career – he’s going to go up and be a big signing for Chelsea. I hope so. I look forward to working with him,"
"It’s important we start the season as well as we can. I know we have injuries, people back at Cobham now that are influential players for us at similar positions, so we’ll need him," he added.
Pulisic is expected to be key for Chelsea next season, especially after the club lost marksman Eden Hazard to Real Madrid in the current transfer window.
